About Us

Curucutu Parques Ambientais is the result of the hard work invested since the 70’s by its founder, Jayme Vita Roso, and his commitment to maintain the ecological legacy of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) for future generations.

Sítio Curucutu, where we are located, occupies an area of 75 hectares. Of this total area, 10.89 hectares are officially recognized since 1995 as Reserva Privada do Patrimônio Natural (RPPN), a privately owned natural reserve, according to the terms of Decreto Federal 1922/96, and Portaria 102/95 of the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA).

Our territory is located at the coordinates 23°53'34.4"S 46°37'01.7"W. The majority of its area is part of the sub-district of Parelheiros, which is part of APA Capivari Monos.  A smaller portion is located in the municipality of São Bernardo do Campo, in the natural spring region of the Billings and Guarapiranga water reservoirs. Various watercourses cut through the area, ultimately leading to the Curucutu river, which also crosses the property.

For that reason, the preservation of Sítio Curucutu is of great importance not only for the air inhaled by the inhabitants of São Paulo, or its place as a habitat for native wildlife: it also plays a bigger role in maintaining the region’s water balance, and consequently, all aspects of nature in the area.
